Review games?

I suppose since I review music, movies, and bands, I really should look into another entertainment entity. Maybe it's time for me to branch out into games and game machines. I've usually always just played the few games that are already on board my laptop or desktop computers. You know the ones - you've probably got them, too.

However, Son has been telling me about how much fun he has playing other video games. He says they are challenging and that he can achieve several levels on them.

If you are "into" games and game machines, I'd love your input about them.

Intermission - Video game mess

So, Son had little get-together a few nights ago. I was at work, but he's 22 and pays half the rent here, so it's all OK. However, his buddies wound up leaving his room and all his games in a mess, scattered all over the floor.

I told him he should have told them to put it away since they got it out. I would have been mighty irritated if my stuff got strewn all over like that. I realize some of these guys still need natural acne treatment, but they are old enough to drive and hold a job, so they are also old enough to know better and not act like 12 year olds.

Ah, well. It's not my room and it's not my video games, is it? It's Son's and it's up to him to take control of such things. Now, I know all these guys and they're really not bad guys. They're friendly and respectful. They also don't come over all that often, so it's not a huge problem really. At least they didn't mess up the kitchen and living room, so I guess I should really be thankful!

SCENE-IT!

This is as fun a game as ever I've played, but I have to admit I wasn't that good at it. I played it for a little while Saturday afternoon and lost miserably. I'm not as quick on the buzzer or as quick to think of the correct answers as my 22 year old son is. I think with time, though, I could get better.

Or, maybe it's a game best played by those who are seeking the best acne treatment - the young, quick thinkers who can hit then buttons a lot faster than I can! Still, I think we'll play it again soon and see if I show some improvement in my button-pushing skills!

Electronic games

My son has more than one electronic game. I'm not real sure just what they are, since I've never really been an aficionado of video games. However, he has set up some things that make it possible for him to actually view television shows and play games against other real people in other places. I find that pretty impressive.

Of late, he's been talking about getting a playstation 3. I don't know if he intends to add it to his collection of game machines or sell some of what he has in order to purchase this new one.

Even though I don't play the games, he finds ways to swap games with friends and sell them to the local game store for credit against new games. This also gives him a conversational outlet online and in real life, discussing the pros and cons of the various games and machines.

I should probably listen more closely. I might learn a thing or two!

Intermission - Quibblo quizzes

This looks like a really fun site to play around at in between movie watching. Quibblo lets you take popular quizzes and polls, or create your own for others to take. Topics include Movies/TV/Music, Sports, Arts/Humanities, News/Politics, Fashion, and a whole lot more.

Among the Top Rated quizzes and polls at Quibblo, you will find "Which candidate has the best chance of defeating Hillary Clinton as President of the United States?" Of course, there are plenty of entertainment and celebrity polls and quizzes you can enjoy, too.

If you want, you can add polls and quizzes to your site so your readers can get in on the fun. I think I'll look around and find one for Talkie Zoo!

Intermission - Poker

Celebrities playing poker on television has become a big deal in the past few years. You get to follow the camera as poker stars play their hands. You, the viewer, can see what's in their hands and you know if they are bluffing or if they've really got a winning hand.

The game itself isn't terribly complicated. A lot of people play various types of poker in their own homes, using pennies or matchsticks instead of big money. Of course, it's all the luck of the draw, but understanding some strategy is also helpful. The beginner might be interested in playing poker at Poker Stars. They offer antes as low as .01 and .02.

If you're interested in playing online, though, at a place where the games can get wild, you can sign up at Pacific Poker for playing what's come to be known as some of the loosest games online.

If you'd like to try your hand at a wider variety of games, you can check out Paradise Poker. This site is less wild and loose, though it is a well-established gaming entity on the internet.

The choice is completely up to you.

Intermission - Game of the stars

I'm sure by now, everyone has seen or at least heard of the game that has risen from the dark and smoky back rooms to the forefront of respectability. That game is poker. Movies stars, TV personalities, and the rich-and-famous all seem to be participating in a poker tournament somewhere and they are being televised doing it.

Many play and give their winnings to their favorite charity. That's a good idea since they are quite often independently wealthy anyway, and this can bring the particular charity some much needed funds plus some publicity.

Even the everyday poker player can now participate for any reason they choose and not feel like a scourge of society. This game has gained respectability. If it's your interest, you can read and learn more on the poker blog or become a member of a poker forum. Learn tips about how to play the game, rules of the game, and strategies to use. Join others in conversations and fun. Meet like-minded people who can guide you through the game and offer tips and tricks to playing and winning.

Syberia 2

If you love video games, and you love pocket PC games, then this will certainly be of interest to you. This is the sequel to the game Siberia 1 and if you're already familiar with that, then you'll know the story. If not, I'll tell you the story of Siberia 2 and you can judge for yourself. Honestly, it looks pretty interesting to me and my son Brandon looked at this, too, and liked it.

The story is that of Kate Walker, a New York lawyer, who along with Hans Voralberg are looking for the fabled Siberian Mammoth. It's high adventure, thrills, action, and mystery as they search a forgotten universe for this beast.

The graphics are beautiful, as you can see from the shots below, which would make playing the game totally immersing.

There are some OS requirements, but if you have a newer Pocket PC or phone with those capabilities, you should have no problem playing this game.

REQUIREMENTS: PocketPC/PocketPC Phone Windows Mobile 2003 / 2003 SE / 5.0 - QVGA/VGA, Program Memory : 24 MB, Storage Memory : 230 MB, As such SYBERIA 2 must be copied to Storage card manually.

For VGA based Pocket PCs, it will run FULL SCREEN but at a fixed 320x240 resolution.
Compatibility: Pocket PC Windows Mobile 5.0, Pocket PC QVGA resolution (320x240)
