Romantic getaway

There comes a time in everyone's life, I think, when you begin to consider vacations and trips that don't include children. I don't have anything against children. I just don't have any young children at home anymore. So, my thoughts have begun to drift toward a Cancun All Inclusive Adults Only vacation. Preferably with someone I care about, of course. Now to find that someone!

 

These kinds of resorts cater to the needs of adults, including the menus available, the beach front locations, and the room amenities. I can actually imagine myself spending some time at a place like that, enjoying the company of a special person and finding places and ways to make him feel even more special.

After all, gourmet food, open-ceiling showers, romantic bedrooms, jacuzzis all make for sensuous surroundings for honeymooners or those who just want a beautiful get-away.

Intermission - Vacation

In a couple of weeks, I'll be off for a week's vacation. I am SO ready for it, too. Last year I just had a 3 day vacation because I hadn't been working at my job a full year yet. This year, though, I get a full week's paid vacation plus my regular days off. Woohoo! I'll spend part of my vacation days at the annual family camp. For the rest of the vacation days I might need to check into a travel guide to see where I want to go, if I do indeed go anywhere.

Right now, though, my main goal is just to have some great days off without having to mess with work, getting ready for work, driving to work, or coming home late from work.

Many prominent celebrities are Hispanic. Stars and singers from Mexico and other Spanish speaking countries have made it big here in the United States, and they've earned their place in stardom. I wonder what kind of hotel accommodations they seek when they're on the road?

Celebrity retreats

I've wondered where celebrities go to get away from crowds and work. Where do they hide out and go on retreat?

The media will report that they've gone to Europe or Africa. Sometimes, we hear they've gone to lake Tahoe to a private lodge or cabin there. Maybe they stay home and just don't answer the phone. Or maybe they even take advantage of Pigeon Forge cabins, where they can lay low and just rest for awhile.

God any opinions or news about this?

Intermission - Orlando hotels

In the Denzel Washington movie, Out of Time, Washington plays the chief of police of a small Florida town. I am not sure just where the town is or if it was fictional, but it makes me wonder if the cast stayed in some of the hotels in orlando while they were filming the movie.

These hotels are near many kinds of entertainment sites and resorts, so in between days of filming it would be very easy for actors and crew to find activities that would help them relax and have some fun. Considering the attractions in the Orlando area, including the nightlife and theme parks, there would be plenty to do that would provide a fun distraction from the hard work of filming.

Intermission - Historic England

While Johnny Depp and the cast were in Mexico filming Once Upon a Time in Mexico, I wonder if they gave any thought to making a film about the UK? I can only imagine what an amazing vacation one could have in this history-laden country. Visitors staying in London Hotels are close to landmarks such as Buckingham Palace and Parliament. Can you imagine being able to see Big Ben or the Thames in person? This would be such an awesome trip.

Perhaps, though, you'd prefer to stay in one of the Edinburgh Hotels. From there, you could easily get to museums and castles, soaking in the rich history of Scotland.

Or, maybe you'd prefer accommodations in one of the Glasgow Hotels. Glasgow is the largest city in Scotland. There, you can enjoy the nightlife, if that's what you prefer, or go out into the countryside. This is the site where William Wallace (Braveheart) and his small army defeated 1000 English Knights in 1300. What a history!

I think I'd find it hard to decide which city to visit. They all have such wonderful attractions and each has a unique history to explore.

Intermission - Bed and breakfast inns

A lot of scary movies are made in the surroundings of a bed and breakfast inn, a motel, a hotel, or some other similar accommodations. I'm so glad that all occurs just in the movies and not in real life. Brandon and I have talked recently about moving out west somewhere. Someplace like northern California, Oregon, or Washington. I'd really prefer to visit out there, first, and find out more about the surroundings, the local economy, and other issues that would be determining factors in a big move like that.

A visit out there could include a California bed and breakfast, so I could survey the location from a place where it's comfortable and homey. Checking out the area would be so much nicer if I could return to a home-like atmosphere at the end of the day, don't you think?

Intermission - Branson

My daughter and her boyfriend have rented a car and are headed right now to Branson for the weekend. I know they'll have a wonderful time there, with all the shopping and shows available for entertainment. They will be back Sunday evening, probably after I am at work.

They couldn't take her little dog with them, so I'm dog-sitting this weekend. I don't mind, though. Tilly is just about as entertaining as any movie you want to watch. She's cute and friendly and playful. I know my daughter will miss her greatly while she's on this little jaunt.

Intermission - Life's a beach

As springtime is upon us, thoughts turn to vacations and relaxation. Of course, we want fun and entertainment along with that so that we can fully enjoy the time away from our mundane jobs. I'm putting my vote in right now for Florida. More specifically, Orlando.

I've been to Orlando before but the trip was work related so I didn't get to stay and enjoy the city. I'd love to be able to visit for an extended period of time and take in all the sights and sounds of such a great vacation site. The beaches are just 40 minutes away and there are no less than 52 theme parks to enjoy. With so much to do there, it might be wise to look into vacation homes near Disney World so that the stay could be comfortable and homey. It's my understanding that a vacation home actually costs less to stay in than other accommodations such as hotels or motels.

Of course, a trip to Disney World is a must-do, but there's more to Orlando than Disney, so it would take an extended vacation to even begin to cover part of the attractions available there. Have you been there recently? What's your take on it?

Intermission - Live Earth Concerts

Coming July 7, 2007 there will be 7 huge concerts around the world. The goal of these concerts is to bring more attention to effects of global warming and to help fund the Alliance for Climate Protection, headed by Al Gore. Part of the money raised through the selling of Live Earth Concerts tickets goes toward staging this massive effort, of course.

Aside from ticket sales, the group is also seeking corporate sponsorships to help fund this campaign. If you're interested in the state of the environment (and who really isn't?), check this out for yourself.

Intermission - Vacation Rentals

It's been one of my dreams to take a vacation on the Gulf Coast. I'd love to spend a few days down there, soaking up the sun and seeing the sights. I'd especially love to go out on the water in some sort of tour boat. I'm not that interested in deep sea fishing, but getting out there to maybe see the expanse of blue water would be great. Getting there isn't a problem since it's a pretty easy drive from here. But where to stay? A hotel? A motel? Those seem to cramped and limiting for vacation purposes.

Intermission - Traveling by air

While I have never boarded an airplane to fly anywhere, I know many people do fly to their chosen destinations. It's faster, and considered much safer even than driving. Italian Flavor

What better way to experience the true flavor of Italy than to have a holiday trip there? I can just imagine touring Rome and seeing Vatican City. Or Venice and the canals. Either of those places would be like a dream to visit, don't you think?

But to me, Tuscany would be the epitome of Italian flavor. The views. The markets. The villas. The wine country. The genuine Italian food. It's all there for the visitor or anyone who loves Italy.

The country, and the city of Tuscany, are steeped in history and romance. Though modern, the old ways have stood the test of time. Fine works of art and ancient architecture mix well with the modern conveniences available in this glorious city. Had I the money, I might even like to acquire property in Italy, so that I could have my own villa to live in and invite guests to. Imagine sitting on the patio with a view of the countryside at my back door and the Mediterranean climate to revitalize me. I'm sure I'd be a new woman!
