THE ADVENTURES OF MILO AND OTIS
I'm telling you, if you haven't rented this classic animal film for your children, or yourself, then you've really missed out on something wonderful. In fact, families with children really should own this fantasy adventure. The Adventures of Milo and Otis (1986; G) should be among your library of great classic children's films.
I watched it again recently and was completely absorbed by it's innocence and complete lack of guile, qualities not often found even in G rated movies of today.
In this story, much like Disney's Homeward Bound, Milo and Otis are off on adventures in their journey back home after Milo (the kitten) wanders away and floats down a river in a wooden box. Otis, his steadfast friend and constant companion, probably fears he should have taken out term life insurance for this straying cat when he meets up with all sorts of mean beasties who might do him in.
The story reminds us that physical differences are only on the surface, that true friendship outlasts mishaps and arguments, and that loyalty to loved ones is of primary importance.
