THE TAKING OF PELHAM 123
This is not a movie for the tender ears of children, that's for sure. It's also not for people who are overly sensitive when it comes to innocent bystanders being shot and killed for no reason other than to play out a threat. However, this is a movie based on a true event, where these kinds of things did occur.
The Taking of Pelham 123 (2009; R) is disturbing at the least because it shows you just how easy it is for domestic terrorists to conduct this murderous activity. It stars John Travolta as the very bad guy who leads the group who hijack the train and Denzel Washington, who is the train dispatcher. The way Ryder (Travolta) behaves makes me think he is exhibiting certain CONCERTA and ADHD Symptoms. As he talks to Garver (Washington) his mind and his stories go off on all sorts of rabbit trails. Inadvertently, he tells Garver so much that the authorities are able to identify him.
The suspense is electric during the whole film and we get a glimpse into the minds of both a person who would presume to hijack a train and the passengers, who are terrified beyond words.
