LOCKOUT

A Luc Besson film (Fifth Element). Lockout (2012; PG-13) is set sometime in the future. The main thrust of the film is that Snow, an ex-federal agent who’s been wrongfully accused of espionage, has been offered his freedom if he will rescue the president’s daughter. She is on a maximum security space station filled with prisoners who are the most vile and evil around.

They are kept in stasis but through a series of events, manage to be awakened and take over the prison ship. They take hostages from among the prison staff, including the president’s daughter, who had gone there to investigate the prison and see if they were being treated humanely.

Snow has the cockiness of Star Wars’ Han Solo, the bravado of Die Hard’s Bruce Willis, and the cool of “make my day” Clint Eastwood all rolled into one.
