IRONCLAD
If you like movies about Medieval time, and I really do, then this is the movie for you to watch. Ironclad (R; 2011) tells the story of a Knight Templar (played by James Purefoy) in the year 1215. He has fought in the Crusades and has returned home to find a land of unrest and injustice.
King John (played by Paul Giamatti), who signed the Magna Carta which protected free men, has reneged on what he signed and has set about plundering the land and reclaiming what he thinks is his birthright. He hires mercenaries to fight for him and they eventually go up against the Knight Templar at a castle called Rochester. It sits in a key area and defeating it would mean King John would win everything he wants.
As a Knight Templar, Marshall has vowed chastity but is eventually swayed by the lady of the castle.
I found the action and dialog to be quite good, especially considering this is an independent film with not the greatest budget. The costumes, sets, and the lay of the land really took me back in history.
