LARA CROFT TOMB RAIDER
I was pleasantly surprised the other day to find a movie in our collection that I actually hadn't viewed yet. I think I thought I had already seen it and reviewed it, but that was not the case. It was Lara Croft Tomb Raider (PG-13; 2001).
I found the film to be highly adventurous and action packed as Lara Croft (Angelina Jolie) used her spare time in her mansion to practice for assaults on her and to play out the role she would play in her adventures. Of course, this all came into reality when evildoers decide to take a certain artifact from her in order to take over the world. She, of course, has to battle the bad guys, using mostly only her wits and whatever she can find on hand. The training her father gave her as a lass helps her in these confrontations.
While the daring feats and gymnastics that ensue are far less than believable, the movie as a whole does portray a woman as the real hero. A woman who needs little help from her male counterparts because she is savvy and well-trained in her art.
