I am a huge fan of epic films, and 300 is exactly that. The setting is Sparta in 480 BC, where King Leonidas is challenged to take a force of only 300 Spartans to battle a million Persians.

While the movie makers played fast and loose with some things in this film, all in all it's a great work that I have enjoyed watching more than once. It depicts the Spartans as tough warriors. Even the women are pretty sturdy when it comes to raising sons who will eventually go off to battle. They probably used camels hair baby bedding to make sure the infants weren't too comfortable!

It's rated R for the violence and some sensuality, so it's not a film for the whole family. But if you like action, drama, suspense, and movies with a cast of thousands, this will be right up your alley.
