THE PATRIOT

Another great movie with Mel Gibson playing the starring role. He plays Benjamin Martin, who had sworn off war and fighting until the American Revolution came right to his front door and killed his son, captured another son. Then he began a freedom crusade for America.

If you love history and historical novels, you'll love this movie. No, it's not based on a real person. Rather, it's based on what a man and his family might have experienced during the Revolution, complete with the bloody hand-to-hand combat that surely ensued during that time.

This isn't a movie for children, due to the violent nature of the battles. In fact, it's rated R. But it is exciting and gripping.
