THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW
With the possibility of some severe winter weather this weekend, I felt it only fitting to watch and review the movie The Day After Tomorrow. From the director of Independence Day, this movie is exciting and dramatic. The possibility of a new ice age in our lifetime is depicted, the cause being global warming which alters the way the climate operates and causes catastrophic climate shifts in the northern hemisphere.
This 2004 movie is intense in its presentation, and most of all, seems plausible. It's rated PG-13 for "Intense Situations of Peril", and rightly so. The storms are voracious and the victims taken almost without warning.
The cast includes Dennis Quaid as the climatoligist who tries to warn the administration about the possibility of such an event. Sela Ward plays his wife, a doctor. Lord of the Rings' Ian Holm (LOTR-Bilbo Baggins) plays Terry Rapson, who first noted the temperature changes in the Atlantic which warned of the climate change.
We really like this movie a lot and enjoy viewing it time and again.
