WE WERE SOLDIERS
Another of our Mel Gibson favorites, We Were Soldiers is rough and raw and war-torn. This is a story based on a true story of Lt. Col. Hal Moore and his heroic leadeship during the Vietnam war. He was dedicated to bringing the men under his command home again, and vowed to leave no one behind. He kept his promise against all odds, and even though many of the men lost their lives in the battles.
We are allowed to meet Moore's wife and family, and the families of other soldiers, in this 2002 drama. This serves to bring us even closer to the characters and puts into perspective the facts of how strongly families are affected by war.
This movie is rated 'R' because of the language and violence. Definitely not for children. Still, it's good viewing for the grown folks of the household and it does have it's very poignant moments.
