SERENITY
Following on the heels of Firefly comes Serenity (2005; PG-13). This movie uses the crew of the TV series Firefly to take us on an adventure beyond what the television show offered. By the way, that show ended way too quickly and wasn’t picked up again, which made off of its fans very unhappy.
The psychic girl who was in the TV show is also on board the tiny Firefly freighter as they try to outrun and out fight the totalitarian regime that has taken control of this segment of the newly formed galaxy. In this area of space, scientists have developed habitable planets for pioneers in space, after the demise of the original Earth. Those who govern these worlds do so with an iron hand. The crew of Serenity, however, are rebels seeking to free planets from the heartless ruling party while they also do business as smugglers and traders.
