Outdoor entertainment

So, if you are so inclined, you might want to extend your indoor entertainment to outdoors. I've often thought of including my back deck as an "outdoor room". Maybe run some weatherproof speakers out there for my music. Put a lightweight top on it to fend off the rain. Add some citronella tike torches around the railing. Even plant a number of shade loving plants all around it for beauty.

So why haven't I already done this? I don't really know. After all, a lovely fire pit to get warm by on the chilly autumn nights, some comfortable chairs, a round table, and a selection outdoor décor could turn that little deck into an outdoor room that I'll never want to leave, right? Now, the wheels are turning in my head to see just what it would take to extend my living area out there.

I could build built-in benches all around the perimeter of the railing for extra seating. I could get some weatherproof cushions to lay on the benches, too, for added comfort. The grill could be placed on a stone patio near the porch for great outdoor cooking and entertaining. Who knows? Maybe even a weatherproof TV for movies?
