LEGEND OF THE BOG
If you're into stale monster movies, then try this one on for size. Legend of the Bog is pretty much the worst monster movie I've seen in awhile. Dull characters. Meandering plot. Lifeless climax. Predictable ending. It's got everything you need to have a movie not worth watching.
The setting is Ireland, where I suppose bogs abound and so do "bog bodies", one of which comes to life to wreak havoc on a handful of unsuspecting people, each with a dreaded secret, who manage to get themselves lost in the woods. They all wind up at the same hut. At first the hut seems to be abandoned but they quickly learn that it is, in fact, home base for Mr. Hunter. Aptly named, he hunts the creatures who reanimate after thousands of years of being dead in the bogs. They must have had some awesome health insurance leads to be able to come back to life after being mummified in those bogs!
Not only is there nothing much of the beautiful Irish countryside shown in the movie, but the whole theme just could have been done better, in my opinion. It was neither scary nor gory. It didn't even have any sudden "jump" moments where the audience gets startled. Nope. It was just hard to watch.
I made it to the end but only because I hoped something better was coming 'round the bend.
