NIGHT LISTENER

This is as creepy a movie as I've seen Robin Williams play in. Night Listener (2006; R) is the story of a radio talk show host who sets up a communication via phone with a boy is has supposedly been abused by his parents in the past. He is under the care of a foster guardian who says the boy is actually dying now. Gabriel (Williams) seeks to help the boy and through a turn of events learns deep and disturbing facts about the whole situation.

No one in the small town where he is supposed to be living has ever actually seen the boy. Their only contact has been the foster mother, who is a bit psychotic and a whole lot scary. Gabriel goes to the town to try to learn if the boy really exists or not, but the child might as well live on the Outer Banks since he seems to just miss him both at home and at the hospital.
