THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (PG-13; 2008) is an intriguing look into a great "what if". What if a person was born old and grew younger through his life?
That's the premise of this captivating film. Benjamin Button was born old and gnarled, showing all the signs of old age - arthritic joints, loss of elasticity in his skin, thin hair, age spots. As he grew up, though, he got younger. He lived a life of learning, love, and adventure until he reached a time in his life when he was actually too young to continue. He fell in love, fathered a child who never really knew him, and loved a single woman from the time he met her when she was a child until they parted when he was a child.
The film is fairly long - over two and a half hours - but that much time is really needed to fully develop the story of a life live backwards.
