Children's entertainment
Given the right circumstances, movie and television watching can actually add to your child's life. However, the printed word is so very important and it's important for parents to foster a love of reading and a love of learning in their children. Learning and entertainment don't have to be mutually exclusive, either.
Beginning at an early age, introduce your children to learning coupled with entertainment through children's books. These can be found in many forms, from cloth books for the very young toddler to chapter books for the more experienced reader. Maintaining a library of books just for your child isn't difficult and it will help them throughout their life.
Stories that are familiar to them can often also be found in movie format. Find stories that captivate your child's interest and have them read the stories before viewing any movies. Better yet, bond with your child by reading aloud to him and discuss the story, the hero, and the outcome as you go along.
