Intermission - Getting organized
One of the other associate managers where I work has got to be the most creative and organized person I know. She brings in things like a little index card system for requests off, a desk organizer to get paper clips and other items in their proper place, and even makes a poster every month announcing upcoming birthdays of crew and managers for the month. She decorates our crew room bulletin board with seasonal papers and borders. She has organized the employee files so we can easily find employee packets by first name instead of last name. (A lot of the time, we tend to forget the person's last name!)
She also uses Dymo labels on the front edges of the stockroom shelves to indicate which dry products go where. Those who put things on the shelves as they unload the truck know just where everything goes that way, and crew members know where to find it later. She keeps like things together. For instance, anything that has to do with ice cream - cones, toppings, syrups, cups, spoons - are all together so it's all super easy to find.
I tend to be organized more on the financial and computer end of things, and keep meticulous records in both my personal life and at work.
I think that between her and me, we could actually run a store without a glitch. Other people sometimes get in our way.
