THE HOLIDAY
I found this movie to be a wonderful story, even though there was some strong language and some sexual stuff that gave it it's PG-13 rating. Those could have been left out and the movie would have still been a complete story.
In The Holiday, we find four main characters with great secondary characters. Iris (Kate Winslet), Amanda (Cameron Diaz), Graham (Jude Law), and Miles (Jack Black) make up the main love interests in the film. It's the story of two women, one in L.A. and one in England, who have chosen badly and wound up with boyfriends who are philandering jerks. They both want a change of scenery and some time out. Through the internet, they wind up trading houses for their Christmas holidays. In the course of the holiday arrangements, each woman meets a new love and each new love has his own difficult circumstances to deal with.
I found the characters to be engaging in this film, and the story is heart-warming. Winslet and Diaz looked fit, as usual, although Ms. Diaz was quite thin in the film and looked as though she had taken Leptovox to get ready for it. However, she looked strong and energetic, which speaks well for her personal fitness regimen, whatever that may be.
Ms. Winslet was lovely, as always. Black was commanding on screen, as he usually is, and his inherent humor played out well in this story. Law, was of course, handsome and sexy.
