THE DEPARTED
One of the most violent films I've seen in a long time is The Departed. This film, starring Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson, Leonardo di Caprio, and Mark Wahlberg tells the story of organized crime, murder, and drug deals. It's a Martin Scorsese film that doesn't sugar coat the criminals, make excuses for them, or make them into some kind of cult heroes. These are bad guys, and that's how they're portrayed in the movie.
Human lives are treated like toys, to be tossed away when the usefulness or entertainment is past. Both the police and the criminals have a "mole" in each others' camp, and everyone is trying to find out who that is, even if they have to literally eliminate all the suspects.
This movie has a well-earned R rating for the language and extreme violence. If you're not into crime dramas, then this won't be a movie you'll enjoy.
