NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN
This is an extremely dramatic movie. No Country for Old Men centers around a wannabe cowboy (Josh Brolin) who is out hunting on the Texas open range when he happens upon a drug deal gone bad. All but one person are dead, and that person is badly shot up with not much hope. The cowboy finds powerful weapons and a case full of money, along with a pickup truck full of dope. He takes the money and some of the weapons, thus beginning his harrowing adventure running from the "upper management" of this deal.
He hides what he found in the cross-members of the trailer where he lives with his wife, then makes plans to get her out of there and go on the run himself. He runs from motel to motel, mostly hitchhiking, and hiding the weapons under the foam mattress of the motel room while slipping the money case into the air conditioning vents. He is pursued by a psychotic killer (Javier Bardem) who will stop at nothing to retrieve the money.
This movie is made with no music and no pretense that bad guys are all bad with no redeeming qualities. Tommy Lee Jones stars as the sheriff who is also pursuing the cowboy in an attempt to extricate him from the mayhem and save his life.
This movie won four Oscars and deserved them all. It's rated R for the extreme and graphic violence.
