STAR WARS: QUEEN AMIDALA COSTUMES
In case you didn't know already, the costume designer for Queen Amidala in Star Wars: Episode I was Iain McCaig. Lucas had decided that every time the Queen was seen, she was to be in a different costume. Each one seemed more elaborate than the last as the queen wore not only the dresses, but the headdresses, hairstyles, and jewelry that was new to each scene.
The costumes had to be designed with movement in mind so the queen could walk across the set. Those who actually made the costumes faced up to the challenge of ever more complicated designs, including a row of lights around the hem of the one the Queen wore in the throne room!
I am amazed by it all. Some of us can barely sew on a button!
