Intermission - Real estate in movies
I always wonder, when I'm watching a movie, how much the production company had to pay to use a piece of real estate in the film. I also wonder if they pay back for any damages done to a home or other building. Just how does that work?
Our state capitol building was used in the movie Independence Day because it is a replica of the US capitol. Some of the mock explosives actually did cause some marks on the dome, and the production company had to pay for having all that repaired.
No wonder movie tickets are so high. Just think of all the people they have to pay before it's even released to theaters.
