CHILDREN OF MEN
Clive Owen stars with others in this future tale of a time when it had been 18 years since any baby had been born in the world. Children of Men is a haunting political and sci-fi film that will certainly make you reassess your view of world population, immigration, and the way people treat people. Should a time such as the one depicted in the film ever come to pass, surely any baby born would be treasured. Unlike today, when so many view children as a burden instead of a gift.
This 2006 movie is R rated for violence, language, and brief nudity. As Theo Faron (Clive Owen) is changed from a cynic to a burden-bearer, we learn that he once had a child that had died. We also find that in this new baby-less world, the young woman who is pregnant knows nothing about having a baby or even who the father is. Yet, this is a miracle baby, nonetheless, and Faron journeys with her, taking her to safety where she and the baby can be in a peaceful situation.
Along the way, you will see illegal aliens killed and forced from homes onto train cars for deportation. The sight is horrible and you grieve with them as they are ripped from their homes and the families are separated.
Good viewing. It makes you think.
