PATCH ADAMS
This 1998 film was inspired by the real-life doctor of the same name. Patch Adams gives us some of the parts of his life as a medical student who was, even from the beginning, a bit unorthodox in his methods. He opened a clinic for indigents before he ever graduated from medical school, and wound up in deep problems for doing so. Yet, he did help people who couldn't otherwise afford to be treated.
It's not the way to go about things, though, since we all want fully trained doctors treating us, don't we? However, this story does give us some inspiration to step out of our individual boxes and really do something to help our fellow man in whatever capacity we may be able. You don't have to open your own medical clinic to volunteer in the one in your neighborhood.
This movie is rated PG-13 for some strong language and coarse humor.
