NATONAL LAMPOON'S VACATION

Bawdy. Irreverent. Risque. Hilarious. These words describe National Lampoon's first Vacation movie. Starring Chevy Chase as Clark Griswald, a husband and father of two who sets out to take his family on a cross-country driving vacation to Wally World, a theme park based on a cartoon character.

The trip is fraught with mishaps and misadventures as Clark tries to maintain his composure under the worst of circumstances. He also has to keep reassuring his family that the driving trip is a good idea.

While the language and some scenes are definitely not for your children to see, I have always liked the Vacation movies because in the final analysis, this is the picture of a father who loves his family and is trying his very best to provide everything he can for them. And the truth is, his family really does love him even though the teen children behave as if they're embarrassed by him. Typical for teens much of the time!

Released in 1983 and R rated for good reasons.
