WAR OF THE WORLDS - The Tom Cruise one

This is not the same War of the Worlds that came out so many years ago. It's a new, modern, updated version of the classic Sci-Fi thriller.

I really liked this movie. It's full of non-stop action and is just scary enough without sending you to the shrink to get over it. Tom Cruise is the father of two children, a teen boy and a pre-teen girl, who are staying with him while their mother and new husband go to her mother's for a visit. Shortly after they leave, and after familial tensions between Cruise and his son, is when all hell breaks loose. The alien invaders begin coming down, riding on bolts of lightening into the ground where their vehicles have been buried for centuries. They are here to exterminate the people of earth, of course, and in the process they throw Cruise into the role of unwilling hero.

It's rated PG13 for the violence. The graphics are very realistic which makes them doubly frightening. I wouldn't want any younger child seeing this as they might relate storms to an alien attack afterward.
