Starring Alan Ladd, Jean Arthur, and Van Heflin, this western myth tells you the story of a homesteading family's encounter with a man whose been a drifter and is trying to retire from gunfighting. A local wealthy and ruthless rancher is trying to take the little homestead, and Shane finds it necessary to once again strap on his guns and fight.

This story of an unwilling hero who makes a turn in his life as he realizes the changes that are coming to the West is adventurous and endearing.
