WE OWN THE NIGHT
We Own the Night has a great cast - Joaquin Phoenix, Robert Duvall, Mark Wahlberg, and Eva Mendez top the starring roles. This movie is rated R for all the right reasons.
It's the story of two brothers on opposite sides of the law. Their father (Duvall) is in the middle and loves both his sons dearly. When one of the brothers (Phoenix) becomes in involved with the Russian mafia, things really get bad. After they kill his father, he then turns informer.
Ok. I know. You have already figured out the total plot line and ending. These are really great actors, with Duvall being my personal favorite in the bunch. He's the ultimate "he-man" - a guy that's tough but has a huge heart full of love. He stands taller than anyone on the screen, in my opinion, because he seems to be more real than anyone else. The movie itself, however, is loaded with language and some gratuitous sex that has nothing to do with the story line itself. The story really is just one that's been told and told again, only the faces have changed.
If you like lots of gunfire, a few car chases (not enough to be really exciting), and a stale plot, then you'll really like this movie.
