Intermission - Celebrity influence
It's well known that celebrities influence people in a lot of ways. Everything from fad diets to fashion are impacted by what we see celebrities doing. Some of this influence isn't good. When people read about parties where attendees are heavily into drugs or drinking, I fear many young people may tend to attempt to follow that as an example.
I'm pleased to report, though, that not all the influences are bad. When celebrities engage in ongoing education, and make that public, they can influence high school students to do the same. And, while famous people may be able to fund their own tuition and books, they can also point kids to a private student loan service to help them get going in their education.
Marcia Cross left Melrose Place to pursue her degree in psychology. Howard Stern graduated from Boston University. These are but a few of the famous names you recognize, and these people did complete their higher educations. Can you name more?
