Intermission - Red Box DVD Rentals

There's something new in the neighborhood. Just a few days ago, there was a Red Box DVD Rental machine installed just outside the door at the McDonald's where I work. Naturally, I had to try it.

Each DVD rental is $1 and you pay using your debit or credit card. You choose the movies from a touch screen menu that's very easy to use. Return the movie by 7 PM the next day or keep it and let them charge your credit or debit card $1 per day until you return it. If you keep the movie for 25 days, charges end and the movie is yours to keep. However, this is an expensive way to buy movies since just about any of them can be had from sellers like Hastings or Best Buy for less than half that price.

To return the movies, you touch the Return portion of the screen and follow the instructions. It's just that simple.

I like the Red Box because you can stop by any time of the day or night to rent or return movies. You don't have to wait until the movie store is open.
