Movies that remain popular

Earlier, Brandon and I were talking about movies that tend to remain popular over the years. For instance, I have the full series of Star Wars DVDs, and watch them over and over. We see them all in every store that sells movies. These seem to remain appealing to a wide audience and they have a timeless quality to them which keeps them on the shelves. For years now, they've been sold and continue to be sold.

What makes these movies stay over the long haul more than some other movies?

I believe, for one thing, it's the high quality of CG in them. Even though the first three, which are now numbered IV, V, and VI, were made under far more primitive circumstances, the creativity of those involved made it possible to keep them appealing to a very modern, computer savvy audience. I also believe the battle between the very good and the very evil is a topic we all like to watch, as good triumphs over evil in these movies every time.
