STAR WARS: EPISODE I
I just recently bought the first three Star Wars movies. I'm a huge fan of them, and I'll be collecting the last three in the next couple of weeks. I think George Lucas did a fine job of movie making with them all, but of course the "first three" were actually made after the original series. They lay the groundwork and history of the heroes including Luke Skywalker. Even Greedo plays a role in the more recently made first episode as one of Anakin Skywalker's playmates.
The costumes for Queen Padmé Amidala (Natalie Portmant)are fantastic, ornate, complicated, and beautiful. I found it humorous that she took them with her on the space ship when she went with Qui-Gon Jinn (Liam Neeson), and actually chuckled about all the luggage she had to take with her. Even Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewen McGregor) made mention of her wardrobe when they were trying to figure out what they had they could trade for spare space ship parts.
Star Wars: Episode I is the story of the good guys fighting the evil Trade Federation in an otherwise Democratic galaxy. We meet Anakin Skywalker as a young boy, who is immediately smitten with Padmé. This proves, in later episodes, to be a torch he carries all his life.
