LADY IN THE WATER
I'm a huge fan of M. Night Shyamalan movies, and Lady in the Water did not disappoint me. It's a fairy tale, of sorts, that Shyamalan actually told his children. The tale built up over time in the telling and retelling, until he finally made it into a movie.
Paul Giamatti plays Cleveland Heep, a building superintendent who discovers a young woman has been swimming in the apartment complex pool. It's his job to make sure no one swims there at night and he winds up nearly drowning himself trying to catch her. She's not even from this world, though, and he is pitted against demons who seek to kill her and anyone that gets in their way.
Follow him as he seeks to enlist the building tenants to help him defeat the demons and save the woman.
It's rated PG-13 for some very frightening sequences which makes me wonder how it was ever a bedtime story at all.
