PLANET OF THE APES

I recently viewed the new version of Planet of the Apes. This is a Tim Burton film and Danny Elfman supplies his usual wonderful, original scores to the film.

This was pretty good but was definitely not a remake of the original. It was an all-new story. The only similarity was the fact that a planet, some planet, was governed by highly-evolved apes.

The genesis of this governance was not the same as it was in the original film, starring Charleton Heston. However, being a sci-fi fan, I still enjoyed the movie. Maybe it should have been called Another Planet of the Apes?

There is some language, but it's not terrible. It's an action-adventure about an astronaut marooned on the ape planet, the ape friends he makes, and how he overcomes the evil ruling class.
