INDIANA JONES AND THE RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK

Ok, folks, I do love me an adventure movie and certainly Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark hits the spot. Harrison Ford stars in this adventure, as he has in the other Indiana Jones movies.

This particular portion of the series deals with Indy thwarting all the bad buys who are trying to get their hands on the Ark of the Covenant, the holding place of the two tablets of stone on which are inscribed the Ten Commandments as handed down to Moses in the Old Testament. This is NOT a religiously correct version of the Biblical tale, since the Ark also housed Aaron's rod that budded and a bowl of manna, neither of which are even mentioned in the movie. Indeed, what is said about the tablets of stone is that the Ark contains the broken pieces.

Nonetheless, the movie is great fun to watch as we see familiar faces and characters along with Dr. Jones. They work together to keep the Ark out of the hands of the Nazis, which holds powers even Indy doesn't expect.

It's rated PG due to some language and scenes of peril, but otherwise is a fun watch for most members of the family.
