APOCALYPSE NOW
I hope you've got a strong stomach and nerves of steel if you plan to view Apocalypse Now. This is no movie for the faint of heart. There is a lot of foul language, but even more, there is a lot of graphic violence, sexual scenes, and drug use.
This is a movie about Viet Nam during the so-called war. I say "so-called" because war was never declared. Remember? We went over there as a police action.
This movie is quite disturbing, and I fear closer to the truth than any of us would like to admit. This is the movie where the line "I love the smell of napalm in the morning" was coined.
Starring such greats as Marlon Brando, Martin Sheen, and Robert Duvall, this R rated movie made in 1979 was released when the horrors of that entanglement were still fresh in our minds. As violent and graphic as the movie is, it's also a deep and thought-provoking movie which will force you to think and rethink your position on that time of battle.
It's the story of Captain Willard (Sheen) who is sent on a mission to kill the renegade and now insane Colonel Walter E. Kurtz (Brando), who is in Cambodia and has declared himself God to a local tribe.
What we have is a two-disk set since this is a very long movie - 202 minutes on our redux version.
