O BROTHER, WHERE ART THOU?
I've seen this movie several times and today, we finally bought it! O Brother, Where Art Thou is very entertaining and funny, and yet has a deeper message and theme. In case you aren't aware, this movie was based on Homer's Odyssey, and if you are familiar with that Greek tale then you'll recognize many of the characters and adventures in the movie.
It's interesting to find the correlations between The Odyssey and this movie as you travel with three escaped convicts across the South of the 30s while Ulysses Everett McGill (George Clooney) seeks the lost treasure. You'll find some of the characters they meet such as Cyclops or The Sirens. See if you can find other correlations as well!
Starring with Clooney in this 2000 movie are familiar stars such as John Turturro, Tim Blake Nelson, Charles Durning, John Goodman, Holly Hunter, and others. This movie was described as the "best movie of the year" by Michael Wilmington of the Chicago Tribune.
