TREASURE RAIDERS

Are you looking for a fast-paced adventure movie? Then keep looking. Treasure Raiders (2007;PG-13) not only moves along at a snail's pace, but even the dialog is choppy, at best. David Carradine seems to have half-way forgotten his lines, while the mostly Russian cast seems to be speaking their parts 3 English words at a time. It's as if someone off-screen is giving them the words to say because they don't really understand English.

There are car chases -- at speeds up to 40 mph. "Wolf" (Alexander Nevsky) sounds a whole lot like The Arnold, but without the good timing and strength of character. Wolf should just leave his bike on the motorcycle jack since he's not that talented at riding it. Or, at least, the stunt guy isn't.

The main story line is that an American archaeology and history professor (Steven Brand as Michael Navarro) is putting together clues that should lead from a 13th century group of knights to a treasure buried somewhere in Russia. Bad guys abound, of course, as he and Wolf become partners in the hunt. (They meet through a common interest in street racing. Fast and Furious? Not at all.)

Ok. It sounds a whole lot like Indiana Jones, but it's not nearly as exciting.
