THE LEGEND OF BAGGER VANCE
Will Smith steps out of his usual role as a cocky character and plays Bagger Vance in The Legend of Bagger Vance, a somewhat mystical and mysterious coach and adviser to a down and out golfer, Rannulph Junuh (Matt Damon). He appears in Junuh's life after he's hit the bottom and challenges him to continue and to improve not only his game, but his life.
Based in fiction but with some accurate representations of famous golfers, this film was released in 2000 and rated PG-13 for some sensuality. Otherwise, it's a very poignant and lovely film to watch. This is one of a number of films directed by Robert Redford. Redford is an excellent director and certainly has a knack for selecting great scripts to work with.
