EDWARD SCISSORHANDS

For anyone who's a Johnny Depp fan, this Tim Burton film is probably already in your collection. Edward Scissorhands, made in 1990, is the story of a misunderstood person who is the invention of a scientist up on the hill in the big old house. Like Frankenstein's monster, Edward is loved by a few but mostly scorned and hurt by most. Winona Ryder is his love interest, but alas, this is a love that will never be fulfilled. Poor Edward's monstrous hands bring harm to those he loves. And try as he might to fit in with the other young people, he winds up being caught up in criminal activity in order to please his peers.

This fairy tale is interesting and there are lessons to be learned from it. Lessons such as not judging others by their appearance or disabilities, and not being taken in by peer pressure just to be accepted.
