JOHN WILLIAMS

I was watching one of the Indiana Jones movies for the umpteenth time, when the musical score struck me as familiar. Yes, as many times as I've watched these movies, I've never given the score much thought until tonight. So, I noted who wrote the score for it, and wondered what else John Williams had done. Maybe I've heard his arrangements a lot more before and that's why this music, or at least the style, seemed so familiar to me.

I learned that he's been involved with the music from several of my favorite movies. Jurassic Park, Star Wars, Schindler's List, Home Alone, Saving Private Ryan, The Witches of Eastwick, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, and many others, a significant number of which are in my own collection of movies.

This award winning musician has been involved in movie music for a very long time. He was born in 1932 in Long Island, NY, and after attending UCLA and Los Angeles City College, and eventually Julliard, he found his way to Hollywood and began his career with TV music in 1958.

I salute this man who has stuck to his profession and given us so much wonderful music in his life.
