CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK: PITCH BLACK

Vin Diesel stars as Riddick in this first of the chronicles - Pitch Black. He is a vile criminal who is bound and being taken to a prison planet by a mercenary. On board the space ship are other passengers plus the crew.

An accident forces the ship down onto a hostile planet and lives are lost in the crash. Riddick has a special ability to see in the dark due to special surgery he had on his eyes. That surgery also made him very sensitive to light so he wears dark goggles most of the time.

Riddick is bad to the bone and not to be trusted, yet they do set him free so he can help them repair an old ship on the planet and fight off the demonic looking alien animals that only come out after dark. Throughout the film, it's unclear if he's a good guy gone bad, or a bad guy trying to be good.

His superior strength and special skills make him both dangerous and a valuable ally.

Released in 2000 and rated R for extreme sci-fi violence, language, and some sensuality.
