EVAN ALMIGHTY

With Bruce Almighty as the lead-in movie, Evan Almighty (2007) really didn't promise to be nearly as well-made or funny. However, I found it to be completely delightful in every way. As a person of faith, I didn't find it to be at all offensive since this was, after all, entertainment and not a theological discussion. However, there were elements of faith all through this film and they were presented without shame. From the first encounter Evan Baxter has with "God" (Morgan Freeman) to the actual building of the Ark, I found a human-ness mixed with faith that really fits so many of us.

I think my favorite line was when Baxter was asked why he thought God chose him. He responded, "God chooses us all."

It's humorous as Baxter becomes a modern-day Noah and animals begin following him, two by two. Everywhere he goes in Washington, DC, where he is a first-time Congressman, from sheep in his Hummer to a Seagull lighting on his shoulder, the animals are always around him.

This is really a good PG rated movie and I do recommend it to you all.
